PIETREVIVE about me

Hi, my name is Ernestina Gallina, I live in Cesenatico, Italy, and I paint mainly because I enjoy it.
I started rock painting in 1996. Since I was a child I always loved arts. Painting has always been a lovely hobby for me, my spare time was devoted to drawing, modeling and making various crafts, I never attended any art school.

In 1987 I moved over to Kenya with my family and stayed in Nairobi for about ten years. Life in Africa enabled me to learn the english language and to discover a yet unknown world.
There I discovered nature and animals.
Then, a day on a library I came upon a book on rock painting and I was marvelled at the way river stones could be turned into animals.
A new exciting world opened to me, I could combine my love for both painting and animals!

Since then I painted countless rocks of every shape and size and got acknowledgements for my works. Now I am proud to see so many of my animals in shops, exhibitions and private collections.

Proud of the experience I had acquired over the years, on 2001 I began sharing my passion for art by teaching rock painting to teenagers and adults, enjoying the enthusiasm of my students.
I have been an active member of several artistic associations and on 2003 I founded the Rock Painting Club Italia on Yahoo Groups. My website "Pietrevive" which is the italian translation for "living rocks" is online since 2001.

I hope that my paintings, done mostly for pleasure, reflect my personality and are appreciated by others. This, in itself, rewards me with a feeling of accomplishment and fulfilment.
Sincerely yours
Ernestina
